Revitalization of mathematics education is an effort in the direction where the practitioners
mathematics education are given the opportunity to conduct self-reflection, for then faced with multi-entry decision on the basis of the attitude of the in-depth study towards a new paradigm has to offer.

Revitalization of mathematics education also implies the need to attempt to formulate a mathematical model of learning considered in accordance with our conditions and in accordance with the demands of changing times.
Ebbutt and Straker (1995: 10-63), giving guidelines for the revitalization of mathematics education in the form of basic assumptions and implications for learning mathematics as follows:
1. Mathematics is the search activity patterns and relationships.
2. Mathematics is the creativity that requires imagination, intuition and
discovery.
3. Mathematics is problem solving activities
4. Mathematics is a tool to communicate

On the other hand, Ebbutt and Straker (1995: 60-75), gives his view, to develop students' potential optimally, then the following assumptions and implications can be used as a reference:
1. Student will learn if given the MOTIVATION.
Then the teacher should:
- providing a fun activity
- Build understanding through what they know
- Creating a classroom atmosphere that supports and stimulates learn
- Provide activities that correspond to the learning objectives
- Respect each student achievement
2. Student studying in its own way
Therefore:
- Teachers need to seek to know the advantages and disadvantages of the students.
- Plan activities according to student ability level
- Build knowledge and skills students both he obtained at school and at home.
- Planning and use records of student progress (assessment).
3. Students learn independently and through cooperation
The implications of this view is to provide opportunities for teachers:
- Learning in groups can train cooperation.
- Learning in the classical style provides an opportunity to exchange idea
- Provide an opportunity for students to conduct their activities in independent.
- Involve students in decisions about activities that will the doing.
- Teaches how to learn.
4. Student need the context and circumstances that vary in their learning
The implications of this view for teachers are:
- Provide and use various props
- Learn mathematics in different places and occasions.
- Using mathematics to a variety of purposes.
- Develop an attitude of using mathematics as a tool for solve problems both in school and at home.
- Appreciate the donation of tradition, culture and art in the development mathematics.
- help the students reflect on math activities.
